You can edit a patient's name and email address directly from the Provider Dashboard — useful for fixing a typo from enrollment, or updating a patient's login when they change email address.
How to Edit a Patient's Details
Open the patient from your Patients list
Click the Actions button at the top of their profile
Select Edit Patient Details
Update the fields and click Save
You can edit three fields: first name, last name, and email address. All three are required.
Editing patient details requires the Manage patients permission. If the option is greyed out, ask an organisation owner to grant you that permission.
Name Changes
Name changes take effect straight away, everywhere — the dashboard, and the patient's app.
Email Changes
A patient's email address is also their login, so changing it does a little more than a name change:
The patient's sign-in email is updated immediately — the old address no longer works for signing in
We automatically email the new address a link for the patient to set their password and finish signing in
Double-check the new address before saving — it should be an address the patient controls, since that's where their sign-in link goes.
If the setup email doesn't arrive, the patient can tap "Forgot password" on the app's login screen to get a fresh link, or you can re-save the email from the dashboard to send it again.
Saving without changing the email (for example, when you're only fixing a name) doesn't send the patient anything.
Other Details
Name and email are the only patient details you can edit from the dashboard. For anything else, message us through the chat bubble and we'll sort it for you.
